Venue Overview:
The Glass Works in Barnsley is a 200 million pound, modern, contemporary retail and leisure destination, which compliments the traditions of Barnsley’s historic markets and reflects the famous Barnsley spirit, all located in the heart of the town centre.
At the heart of the development, the Glass Works Square significantly enhances the accessibility and connectivity of the town centre by providing direct access to and from the Transport Interchange, as well as creating a high-quality and attractive public space for events, where people can enjoy, meet and relax in.
The photographs displayed are from previous events that have been held in the Glass Works area in 2022.
Event Overview:
In 2022, after running many successful events in the Glass Works area of the town centre, Barnsley Council is introducing a 2023 Christmas Market as part of their on-going vision and strategy for the town centre. Barnsley Council have recently been voted the 'Best Local Authority - Events Team 2022' at the NOEA Awards Evening (National Outdoor Events Association). Previous events have proved to be a huge hit with visitors, with footfall up over 40% and dwell time for visitors increasing to over 2 1/2 hours. The long-term vision for the Christmas Market is to create a signature event for the borough based upon market research undertaken as part of the development consultation activities which demonstrated a high demand for a Christmas Market within the town centre.
The Glass Works and wider town centre also benefits from ample parking and a centralised public transport hub - off street parking on Saturday and Sundays is free for the first three hours.
Food Festivals Ltd have been commissioned by the Council to host their Christmas Market during the dates of 7th - 10th December. The event will comprise of food product stalls, food and drink concessions (a limited number), craft stalls and an area which will also be used for entertainment and live music.
With the event being in a town centre, and on hard standing areas, it is imperative that marquees are secured correctly, thus marquees will be provided for product and trade exhibitors as gazebos at this time of the year will not withstand high winds. Security will also be on site for the duration of the set-up and event. This means that Exhibitors will have the option to either leave their products / crafts in the marquee during the 4 days, or they can pack up each night. There is FREE parking, a 5 minute walk away for Exhibitors.
For those Exhibitors who are trading on their own, we have a friendly event team you can call upon to give you a quick break. Nothing is ever too much trouble - and we might even be able to make a few sales on your behalf!
