Le Raclette Hut

Details of products sold: We have a an exciting Hot Street Food stall trading with Alpine Raclettes, which we call Le Raclette Hut. Raclette is a traditional alpine food from Switzerland or France - which is melted raclette cheese poured over hot potatoes, traditionally served with pickles and cornichons. (small gherkins) We offer either boiled, Rosemary Roast Potatoes or french fries with the raclette cheese being melted directly from the raclette wheel, in front of the customer, over the food with pickles and gherkins to top. We also offer lardons and sweet chilli beef brisket or field mushrooms as extras. Raclette Nachos are very popular with the youngsters. Raclette is a style of cheese and a dish. The cheese we use currently is a semi-hard cow’s milk cheese from Annecy in France. It melts really well, so traditionally the Swiss farmers would heat it by an open fire, scraping the cheese onto bread or potatoes once cooked. Although the original Swiss farmers would’ve just held cheese up to a fire, the common way of melting raclette cheese now is on a purpose-built machine, which holds two half wheels of cheese at one time—so one piece is always cooking while we serve from the other one. We serve the melted cheese over new potatoes and pickles, which is traditional and make additions, as we mention above, at customer's request. The cheese is fantastic and really is served best simply and without fuss and the spectacle of melting cheese never ceases to fascinate us and our customers. The raclette dish is appealing to all age groups and is real 'feel good' food , especially on busy festival days .  We would love to come along to your event as we have friends who regularly attend and have given us really good feedback on your event. I have attached some pictures to give you an idea of the offering but nothing beats seeing that cheese bubble and be scraped over your rosemary roast potatoes or the smell of the distinct  raclette cheese.
