Kickstart December with twinkling lights, local delights, and a sleighful of Christmas spirit!

We’re inviting a wide range of talented local makers, bakers, and creators to join us, from artisan crafters and food producers to festive street food vendors. Whether it’s hand-stitched scarves, Yorkshire-made mince pies (the big un’s!), or a warming cup of mulled wine, this is your chance to showcase your wares to a cheerful crowd ready to shop, sip, and celebrate.

The event takes place at the Pickering Old Showground, with primary stallholders all under cover in the main shed, and food vendors outside on hard standing. 

We have been hosting events here at Galtres with great success, and work with many event organisers to do so, as well as hosting some ourselves. We already have a great audience to promote to, but we anticipate that all our traders will support the new event and share their participation to encourage their own audience.

Father Christmas will be making a jolly appearance, and the day will be filled with live music, carol singers, and family-friendly entertainment — all wrapped in a welcoming atmosphere that makes trading a joy.

Only a nominal parking fee is being charged to visitors, which will assist in our Christmas costs for decoration, entertainment, staffing, etc. and avoid overcharging Traders. The event is otherwise free to enter.

Application Process

The Gatres Event Team will assess your application. You will receive an automated email from Event Owl acknowledging receipt of your application (if this email does not appear, please check your spam filter).

If your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation email via Event Owl and your payment/deposit will be processed.

Please note - Your payment will not be processed unless your application has been approved. If your application is declined, your payment details will be automatically deleted.

You need to make sure that the details on this form are correct. You will not be able to make any changes to this form once it has been submitted.

Your joining instructions will be sent out to the email address on your application form a few days before the event. The joining instructions will include set-up times, parking info, etc. If you have not received your joining instructions by Thursday morning before the event, please get in touch.

Unfortunately any pitch fees will be non-refundable, in the unlikely event of extreme weather, we reserve the right to cancel as H&S is imperative to our traders & public.

ALL OUTDOOR GAZEBOS AND OTHER INFRASTRUCTURE MUST BE WEIGHTED, PINNED OR OTHERWISE SECURED FOR SAFETY AT ALL TIMES.

FOOD OR PRODUCE STALLS

Min 4* Food Hygiene Rating required - 5* preferred.  All Food Hygiene Certificates and FSA Ratings must be submitted upon application (you will be asked to upload these).

Street Foods and Concessions - a full set of mobile food/hot drink ­unit ­documents (gas/electric certs, trailer cert, allergen list etc.). If you have these already loaded into your Event Owl profile, remember to tick the boxes! Our definition of Street food is any food or drink that is sold with the intention of it being consumed 

ALCOHOL TRADERS

The site owners host their own bar however, mulled wines and ciders are allowed.

Off-Site sales only - You must submit your own TEN or pay £20 for use of our Premises License for trading on the site.You will need your own personal license and you will have to comply with our Challenge 25 policy.

All consumables are to be biodegradable. No plastic one-time consumables.

INDOOR TRADERS

Although the indoor space is large and high, in Winter there may be freezing snaps where condensation will form on the inside of the roof. It is advised you bring a gazebo of some form to protect your stock.
